The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned anti-Muslim attack ads targeting judicial nominee Adeel Mangi.
The Judicial Crisis Network, a right-wing judicial advocacy group, unveiled digital this week to pressure Sens. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and Bob Casey (D-Pa.) to oppose Mangi’s confirmation. The group’s ads accuse Mangi of being a “radical” and an “antisemite,” and of advising an organization that teaches students “to hate Israel, to hate America and to support global terrorism.” The ads also use video footage of the second plane crashing into the World Trade Center on 9/11 overlaid with a headline about Mangi.

“The attack ad targeting Mr. Mangi is dishonest, disgusting and brimming with anti-Muslim bigotry,” said CAIR Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell. “Insinuating that an accomplished American Muslim attorney is a terrorist sympathizer is classic Islamophobia, despicable, and must be condemned.”
Last year, CAIR condemned Senators Ted Cruz, Tom Cotton and Josh Hawley for their “Islamophobic and un-American” questioning of Mangi.
