The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the far-right Israeli government’s murder of 36 members of a single Palestinian family in Gaza as they gathered to break their Ramadan fast.
Those 36 members of the Tabatibi family were killed as they were about to enjoy a Ramadan fast-breaking meal together. An Israeli air strike hit the building where they stayed as women prepared the meal. They were among more than 100 people slaughtered in Israeli air strikes yesterday.
Media reports say: “TV footage showed bodies spread out in a hospital courtyard and then stacked on a truck to be driven to a cemetery. Because there were not enough body bags, some – including at least two children – were wrapped in white cloth stained with blood.”
“The ongoing unspeakable war crimes being committed daily by the forces of the far-right Israeli government could not occur without the rhetorical, political and military support of the Biden administration,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “This complicity in genocide will forever stain President Biden’s legacy.”
Yesterday, CAIR called on the Biden administration to take responsibility for its role in the ongoing surge in Islamophobia and to match its rhetoric on the International Day to Combat Islamophobia with concrete action by ending the biggest driver of Islamophobia: the genocidal war in Gaza.
