On Tuesday, April 2, the California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CA) and Assemblymember Arambula, along with co-hosts Senator Wahab, Senator Hurtado, Assemblymember Nguyen, Assemblymember Curry, Assemblymember Arambula and co-hosts Senator Wahab, Senator Hurtado, Senator Cortese, Assemblymember Nguyen, Assemblymember Aguiar-Curry, Assemblymember Wilson, Assemblymember Essayli and Assemblymember Wilson, will host the 18th Annual Capitol Ramadan Iftar.
Ramadan, which began on March 9, 2024, is the Islamic holy month of self-discipline, charity, fasting, and spiritual renewal. Muslims end their daily fast after sunset with a meal known as iftar.
Since 2004, CAIR-CA has worked with members of the California State Legislature to host an annual Ramadan Iftar at the State Capitol to commemorate Ramadan alongside lawmakers, as well as leaders and advocates within the Muslim community, and connect on issues impacting California’s Muslims. It has been our honor to bring together members of the California State Legislature, legislative staff, and community leaders from across the state to break bread, commemorate this significant Islamic holiday, and celebrate the Ramadan Resolution.
