BACKGROUNDER:

On March 27, 2024, Greg Abbott signed Executive Order No. GA-44. The Order targets student advocates for Palestine and directs universities to punish students and organizations that are critical of Israel’s ongoing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. Students for Justice in Palestine at the University of Houston, Students for Justice in Palestine at the University of Texas at Dallas, and the Democratic Socialists of America challenge the order on First Amendment grounds.

CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
