CAIR-Ohio to Host Debate Watch Party and a Post Debate Conversation

(COLUMBUS, OHIO, 6/27/24) – This evening, the Council on American-Islamic Relations office in Columbus (CAIR-Ohio) is inviting the South and Central Ohio Muslim community to participate in a non-partisan presidential debate watch party.

“One of the key roles of CAIR-Ohio is to engage in a constructive engagement within our own diverse Muslim community,” said Khalid Turaani, executive director of CAIR-Ohio. “The Presidential debate offers a chance for Muslim voters of all political stripes to unite and address shared challenges.”

Turaani added: “At a time in which informed discussion and camaraderie are vital, CAIR-Ohio seeks to foster an evening of learning and community engagement. The watch party will provide a platform for attendees to come together, learn about critical national and community issues, and engage in meaningful dialogue with fellow community members.”

The watch party will feature live streaming of the presidential debate followed by a discussion of the candidates’ positions on various topics. Attendees will have the opportunity to share perspectives, ask questions, and gain insights into the candidates’ policies.

The event is open to all members of the community, regardless of political affiliation. CAIR-Ohio encourages everyone interested in understanding the current political landscape and its implications for our community to join in this educational and enriching experience.
