Bay Area Cities to Honor American Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month 

On Tuesday, Aug. 20, four Bay Area cities will recognize the contributions of American Muslims to their communities by issuing proclamations declaring August as American Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month. 

The cities of Dublin, Milpitas, Pleasanton, and Santa Clara will honor local Muslim community members with these proclamations at their respective Aug. 20 city council meetings. The presentations will take place at the beginning of each meeting. 

WHAT: American Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month Proclamations 

WHEN: Tuesday, August 20 | 7:00 PM 

WHERE:

  • Dublin City Hall, 100 Civic Plaza, Dublin 
  • Milpitas Community Center Auditorium, 457 E. Calaveras Blvd., Milpitas 
  • Pleasanton City Hall, 200 Bernal Ave., Pleasanton 
  • Santa Clara City Hall, 1500 Warburton Ave., Santa Clara 

WHO: Community leaders from each local Muslim community will be present to accept the proclamations.  

In a statement, CAIR San Francisco Bay Area (CAIR-SFBA) Policy Coordinator Musa Tariq said: 

“American Muslim Appreciation and Awareness Month is an opportunity to celebrate the invaluable contributions of American Muslims to our communities. These proclamations are a testament to the growing recognition of the diversity and richness that Muslims bring to our society. We applaud this acknowledgment and are grateful for the support of our elected officials.”
