The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed a resolution by the city council of Portland, Maine divesting from the government of Israel and companies participating in the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.
The resolution, sponsored by the Maine Coalition for Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace Maine chapter, aims to withhold all city money and investments from companies that are “complicit in Israel’s war crimes in Gaza,” Maine Coalition For Palestine said in a news release.

“We welcome this decision by the Portland City Council and urge other cities to follow suit and divest from the genocidal Israeli government,” said CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw.
