(CANTON, MI, 9/16/2024) – The Michigan chapter of Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today offers a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who allegedly attacked a Jewish teenager in Ann Arbor, Michigan, yesterday.
A 19-year-old man reported to Ann Arbor police that he was assaulted yesterday by a group of people after being asked if he was Jewish. The teenager was observed to have minor wounds after the reported assault. The Ann Arbor Police Department is currently investigating the incident as a potential hate crime.

“Everyone in Ann Arbor should be safe to express their ethnic and religious identity without fear of being assaulted nor menaced,” said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid. “We call on anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information relating to this reported attack to immediately contact the Ann Arbor Police Department.”
Walid said CAIR-MI is offering a $1,000 reward to anyone who gives information to the Ann Arbor Police Department which leads to an arrest and conviction in this case.
He said Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
