The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the dismissal of two police officers in Westlake, Louisiana, due to their alleged racist remarks and harassment of colleagues.
An internal investigation of two officers at the Westlake Police Department due to allegations by colleagues of racist remarks and harassment resulted in their dismissal from the department.

“Individuals who cannot be trusted to ‘protect and serve’ all citizens fairly and equitably should not be allowed to be law enforcement officers,” said CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper. “We welcome the efforts of the Westlake Police Department to ensure its officers serve the community with fairness and justice.”
He said Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
