CAIR-Sacramento Condemns Hate Vandalism Targeting Hindu Temple

The Sacramento Valley/Central California office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SV/CC) today condemned the recent hate vandalism targeting a Hindu temple in Sacramento County and expressed solidarity with the Hindu community and all those targeted by hate.

According to reports, the incident involved vandalism of the temple, with graffiti that included hate speech and Nazi swastikas, leading the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office to investigate it as a hate crime. This act of hate is a disturbing reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by faith-based and minority communities in Sacramento and beyond.

“We are deeply saddened and outraged by these appalling acts of hate. An attack on any place of worship is an attack on the fabric of our diverse community,” said Reshad Noorzay, Executive Director of CAIR-SV/CC. “No one should have to live in fear because of their faith or identity. We must stand united to confront and reject hatred in all its forms.”

He added: “CAIR-SV/CC urges the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident and to hold those responsible accountable. Additionally, we encourage community members to remain vigilant and report any acts of hate or discrimination. We will continue to work closely with local authorities, community partners, and civil rights organizations to ensure that justice is served and our communities are protected.”

The rise in hate crimes targeting places of worship underscores the urgent need for community-driven efforts to promote inclusivity and mutual respect. CAIR-SV/CC is committed to advocating for stronger protections and educational initiatives that foster a society in which diversity is celebrated and all individuals are valued.

CAIR’s New York chapter recently condemned hate vandalism targeting a Hindu temple in Long Island.

CAIR-SV/CC urges anyone with information about this incident to contact law enforcement immediately. The organization also offers its support and legal assistance to those affected by hate crimes or acts of discrimination.

All houses of worship are urged to refer to CAIR’s Best Practices for Mosque and Community Safety guide, which contains security advice applicable to institutions of all faiths.

Washington, D.C., based CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.

CAIR-CA is a chapter of CAIR, America’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
