The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today demanded accountability for the Israeli genocide in Gaza after a statement by the United Nations said that Israeli attacks on Gaza bear the hallmarks of “atrocity crimes.”
CAIR also called for a UN investigation of the reported Israeli execution of Palestinian ambulance crew members after unconfirmed reports of a massacre by Israeli forces.
Israeli actions in Gaza, including the bombardment of populated areas in which civilians have been killed, bear the hallmarks of atrocities, the UN said. “There is a callous disregard for human life and dignity. The acts of war that we see bear the hallmarks of atrocity crimes,” Jens Laerke, spokesperson for the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, said on Friday.

Israeli strikes in Gaza bear hallmarks of ‘atrocity crimes’: UN
Paramedics of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society remain missing after their crew went to Rafah to respond to civilian deaths after Israel had started an incursion there. Yesterday, a team was allowed to enter the area but only found the body of one paramedic. He was buried today.
In a statement, CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:
“The fact that the Israeli government has been committing atrocities in Gaza is perhaps the understatement of the century. The horrors witnessed since the commencement of Israel’s campaign of mass slaughter in Gaza have shaken the world. The United States and the nations of the world cannot allow this crime against humanity to continue. The Israeli government must be prevented from committing further atrocities and must be held accountable for the war crimes it has committed with impunity.”
He noted that the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
