Event focused on free speech, public safety, criminal justice reform, and Muslim American heritage
On April 8, the Florida chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations-Florida (CAIR-Florida), the state’s largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization, will join more than 100 Floridians and 10 organizations – including CAIR-Florida – in the 2025 Muslim Day at the Capitol (MDAC) event.
Participants began arriving in Tallahassee on April 7 and will hold meetings with Florida senators and representatives on Tuesday, April 8. The delegation will address key policy priorities including the protection of free speech, public and school safety, criminal justice reform, and the recognition of Muslim American heritage.
The 2025 MDAC brings together a coalition of Muslim organizations, institutions, mosques, schools, community centers, immigrant advocacy groups, professionals, and individuals committed to civic engagement.
“This year’s agenda includes critical issues that affect not only Muslim Americans but all Floridians,” said Mari Marks, policy manager at CAIR-Florida. “Muslim constituents from across the state are gathering to make their voices heard. Now more than ever, we are standing and speaking up for equal treatment under the law, the protection of our First Amendment rights, and accountability for discriminatory practices.”
