Development Manager

Salary: $63,000 – $75,000

CAIR-Florida is the state’s leading Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization. We work
to protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower our community through legal defense,
civic engagement, and public education. South Florida is home to one of the largest and
most diverse Muslim communities in the country. To meet the urgency of this moment, we
are seeking a dynamic, mission-driven Development Manager to establish CAIR-Florida’s
leadership presence in South Florida, and to expand our donor base and strengthen
fundraising strategy across the state.
Role Overview
This is a role for a builder. You will be the face of CAIR-Florida in South Florida, trusted to create immediate impact by engaging donors, cultivating new community relationships, and positioning CAIR-Florida as a vital leader in the region. Supported by a seasoned executive team and established staff, you will carry the responsibility of laying the foundation for growth and long-term sustainability in South Florida and across the state. You will be responsible for statewide strategy and oversight, with a personal primary focus on the greater South Florida region.
Key Responsibilities
Fundraising Strategy & Implementation
Develop and implement annual and multi-year fundraising strategies to meet
revenue goals.
- Identify opportunities for major gifts, planned giving, and corporate sponsorships.
- Collaborate with Executive Director to design and execute statewide fundraising
campaigns.
Donor Stewardship & Communications
- Build and manage relationships with individual donors, foundations, and
community partners. - Conduct regular 1:1 donor meetings and follow-ups.
- Work with the statewide team to expand donor base and re-engage lapsed donors.
- Oversee donor acknowledgment and appreciation processes, ensuring timely
recognition. - Work with team to craft compelling donor messaging, impact reports, and
campaign materials. - Maintain regular contact with supporters through personalized outreach and
updates.
Events & Campaigns
- Plan and execute development-focused outreach for major donor events, including
annual galas, fundraising dinners, and giving campaigns. - Partner with CAIR-Florida staff to highlight impact stories during campaigns and
events. - Track event ROI to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Data & Systems Management
- Maintain accurate donor records in CRM/database, tracking gifts, pledges, and
interactions. - Generate reports to analyze giving trends, donor retention, and fundraising
progress. - Ensure compliance with fundraising policies, legal requirements, and reporting
standards. - Leverage technology for donor segmentation, targeted outreach, and performance
tracking.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, business, or related
field (or equivalent experience). - Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit
development. - Demonstrated success in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual and
institutional donors. - Strong relationship-building skills with diverse communities and stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced
environment. - Proficiency with donor databases/CRM systems and Microsoft Office/Teams.
- Commitment to CAIR-Florida’s mission of civil rights, justice, and community
empowerment.
Preferred:
- Experience working with faith-based or advocacy organizations.
- Familiarity with South Florida’s Muslim and interfaith communities.
- Track record of planning and executing successful fundraising campaigns and
events. - Knowledge of nonprofit financial management and fundraising compliance.
- Ability to engage and motivate board members, volunteers, and staff in fundraising
efforts. - Bilingual or multilingual skills (primarily Arabic and Urdu).
