The Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed Roblox Corporation’s confirmation that it is investigation the reported exposure of children to profane anti-Muslim and anti-Palestinian content as part of the so-called “Italian Brainrot” trend on its gaming platform following a letter CAIR sent yesterday requesting it to take appropriate action to protect children and create guardrails for safe gaming.

Roblox is an online game platform and game creation system that allows users to program and play games created by themselves or other users.
In its letter to Roblox’s corporate leadership in San Mateo, California, CAIR conveyed complaints the Maryland office has received that these chants—popularized as memes by youth—include explicitly anti-Muslim statements and hate speech, some of which glorify violence against Palestinians.
Verified translations show alarming messages including:
- A chant that “porco Dio e porco Allah” (literally, “God is a p*g” and “Allah is a p*g”)
- Lyrics invoking the bombing of Palestinian children and explicit rejection of belief in Allah — content that dehumanizes Muslims and trivializes Palestinian suffering
In its response to CAIR, Roblox stated in part:
“Community safety and ensuring an appropriate and fun environment for our users are top priorities at Roblox. Inappropriate content or behavior that violates our Terms of Use is not acceptable. This expedited report will be investigated by our team who will take swift and appropriate action.”
“Teachers have shared with parents that students are repeating these hateful chants in classrooms without necessarily understanding their meaning,” said CAIR’s Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry. “When gaming content normalizes bigotry or mocks faiths, it creates real-world harm. We welcome Roblox’s commitment to community safety, and look forward to sharing positive developments.”
CAIR has called on Roblox to:
- Identify and remove all “Italian Brainrot” audio, chat, games, and assets that contain hateful, racist, blasphemous, or anti-Muslim/anti-Palestinian content.
- Strengthen moderation filters—especially for religious slurs and non-English content—so similar material is flagged automatically.
- Issue a public statement affirming Roblox’s commitment to inclusivity and denouncing hate speech.
- Provide transparency on the company’s moderation actions and future safeguards.
- Engage with community organizations, including CAIR, to understand how anti-religious content affects children and families.
CAIR’s letter also included guidance for parents and guardians, encouraging the use of Roblox’s parental-control settings, account-restriction tools, and privacy reviews to ensure children’s online safety.
The civil rights group offered to collaborate with Roblox to ensure that the platform’s moderation systems protect all children particularly from profane content that promotes or normalizes violence or religious intolerance.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
