CAIR Urges American Muslims to Vote in Upcoming State and Local Elections on November 4

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today urged American Muslims and all citizens to participate in the upcoming state and local elections on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, which will feature major contests across Virginia, New Jersey, and municipalities nationwide.

In Virginia, the general and special election will be for the Governor, Lieutenant Governor, and Attorney General races.  Virginians will also elect members to the House of Delegates, where all 100 seats are up for re-election, along with other state and local offices. (Official Website)

  • Virgina Deadlines:
    Register to vote or update your registration online: by Friday, October 24, 2025Virginia Elections
  • Early in-person voting period: Friday, September 19, 2025, through Saturday, November 1, 2025Virginia Elections
  • Apply for a ballot to be mailed to you (absentee/mail-in request): by 5:00 p.m., Friday, October 24, 2025 – your request must be received by your local registrar’s office by that time. Virginia Elections

The New Jersey General Election will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Voters will elect the next governor, all 80 members of the General Assembly, and various county and local officials.

Key Election Deadlines

  • October 22, 2025: Sample ballots begin mailing.
  • October 25 – November 2, 2025: Early voting period.
    • Monday–Saturday: 10:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
    • Sunday: 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
  • October 28, 2025: Deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot by mail.
  • October 31, 2025: Deadline for overseas civilian and military voters to apply electronically.
  • November 3, 2025 (by 3:00 p.m.): Deadline to apply in person for a mail-in ballot.
  • November 4, 2025: Election Day. Polls open from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • November 4, 2025 (by 8:00 p.m.): Deadline to return mail-in ballots to a drop box or county Board of Elections.
  • November 6, 2025: County Boards must receive non-postmarked mail-in ballots.
  • November 10, 2025: Deadline for timely postmarked mail-in ballots to arrive.
  • November 15, 2025: Deadline to “cure” mail-in ballot issues.
  • December 4, 2025: Certification of election results by the Board of State Canvassers.
