CAIR Welcomes Resignation of Air Force Official from Teaching Position Over Violently Anti-Muslim Social Media Posts

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today welcomed the resignation of an Air Force official from his teaching position after he came under investigation over violently anti-Muslim social media posts bearing his name – one of which called for gunning down Muslim protesters in Britain.

The associate dean of academics at the Defense Language Institute’s English Language Center in San Antonio stepped down after alleged social media posts made by him calling for the killing of Muslim protesters in Britain and expressing racist sentiments toward Native Americans. Other posts alleged to be from the official urge authorities to deal harshly with pro-Palestinian protesters. The post was in response to a protest in Boston in which four police officers were reported injured and 13 demonstrators were arrested.

In a statement, CAIR Research and Advocacy Director Corey Saylor said:

“Individuals who express such violent hatred against Muslims and other minority groups should not be tasked with educating members of our diverse armed forces. We welcome the resignation of this individual and urge all members of the armed forces to ensure that their classrooms are not being used to spread bigotry.”
