CAIR Md. to Hold Webinar on Best Practices to Manage Religious Accommodations for Incarcerated Muslims on Feb. 4

The Maryland office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) invites all correctional and detention staff in the state to attend an educational webinar on best practices to manage religious accommodations for incarcerated Muslims on February 4 at 12:30 p.m.

With Ramadan approaching, this webinar is designed to provide staff at Maryland correctional facilities and detention centers with an overview of managing religious accommodations in carceral institutions. Participants will learn how federal and state laws apply to common accommodation requests including diet, religious items, grooming, prayer and congregational services. Participants will also learn how to evaluate requests and balance institutional safety and operational needs while remaining compliant with constitutional obligations.
