On Monday, January 26, the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MN), along with community organizations and leaders, will hold a news conference at the Hennepin County Government Center in Minneapolis to demand that state and local law enforcement authorities investigate the killing of Alex Pretti by federal officers.
Video shows Pretti being shot yesterday after he tried to defend a woman who had been shoved to the ground by the federal officers. Many angles of video show that he never touched his weapon, which he was reportedly carrying legally, and which was shown being removed by an officer from a holster in his back belt moments before he was shot repeatedly while motionless on the ground.
Trump administration officials have falsely labeled Pretti a “domestic terrorist.”

Yesterday, CAIR’s national office and CAIR-MN demanded that Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey order local law enforcement authorities to investigate the shooting and called for the removal of all Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) forces from the state.
Earlier this month, CAIR-MN similarly called for an independent and transparent investigation of the ICE-involved fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minneapolis.
