CAIR Calls on Congress to Listen to American People After Pew Poll Shows Increasing Negative Views of Israel, Netanyahu

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called for members of Congress to listen to the American people after another poll shows increasingly negative views of Israel and its indicted war criminal Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

According to a new Pew Research Center survey, 60 percent of U.S. adults have an unfavorable view of Israel and 59 percent have little or no confidence in Netanyahu to do the right thing regarding world affairs. Majorities of adults under 50 rate Israel and Netanyahu negatively.

In a statement, CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw said:

“Once again, polling data confirms what many in Washington continue to ignore: the American people are increasingly rejecting genocidal actions of the Israeli government and have little confidence in indicted war criminal Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s leadership on the world stage. These findings reflect a growing awareness of Israel’s crimes against humanity.

“Members of Congress have a responsibility to represent the views and values of their constituents, not to defer to well-funded special interest groups that seek to silence criticism of Israel’s genocidal policies. The American public is calling for a more balanced, just, and humane foreign policy that respects the rights and dignity of Palestinians and holds all governments accountable for violations of international law.

“We once again urge Congress to listen to the American people and to take meaningful action to end U.S. complicity in Israel’s war crimes.”

In February, CAIR similarly called on Congress to listen to the American people instead of anti-Palestinian lobby groups after a Gallup poll showed that most Americans sympathize with Palestinians over Israel in the wake of the Gaza Genocide.
