The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today invites you to sign its click-and-send action alert calling on Congress and the Trump administration to stop funding Israel’s attacks on Christians, Muslims and holy sites.
WATCH: Israeli Persecution of Christians is Skyrocketing
CAIR’s action alert calls on Congress and the State Department to:
- Publicly condemn attacks on Christians, Muslims, clergy, worshippers, churches, monasteries, cemeteries, mosques, and holy sites.
- Demand accountability for Israeli soldiers, settlers, extremists, and officials responsible for attacks on religious communities.
- Oppose any use of U.S. taxpayer-funded weapons or aid to attack civilians, destroy religious sites, or deny freedom of worship.
- Press the Israeli government to end discriminatory restrictions on access to Christian and Muslim holy sites.
- End unconditional U.S. military funding that enables abuses against civilians and religious communities.
- Support a permanent ceasefire, humanitarian access, and full protection for civilians and places of worship.
The action alert’s message to Congress reads:
“I stand with the Council on American-Islamic Relations in writing to urge you to condemn Israel’s escalating attacks on Christians, Muslims, clergy, worshippers, religious sites, and civilian communities across Palestine and the region.
“Recent reports include Israeli forces attacking Palestinian Christians gathered at St. George’s Monastery in the West Bank, an Israeli soldier desecrating a statue of the Virgin Mary in Lebanon, Israeli troops vandalizing a statue of Jesus in Debel, the destruction of a Christian monastery and nuns’ school in southern Lebanon, the targeting of solar infrastructure in a Christian Lebanese village, and the assault of a French nun in Jerusalem.
“Israeli authorities have also reportedly restricted Christian worshippers from accessing the Church of the Holy Sepulcher on Palm Sunday while continuing to restrict Muslim worshippers from Al-Aqsa Mosque.
“These abuses violate basic principles of religious freedom, human dignity, and civilian protection. American taxpayer dollars should never be used to support attacks on civilians, clergy, houses of worship, or sacred sites.
“I urge you to publicly condemn these abuses, demand accountability from the Israeli government, oppose any use of U.S. weapons or aid in attacks on civilians and religious sites, and support ending unconditional U.S. military funding that enables these actions.”
