Hope After Hate: New CAIR Podcast Episode Features Imam Taha of the Islamic Center of San Diego

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today announced the release of the latest episode of its weekly recorded podcast CAIR on AIR. The episode, featuring Imam Taha Hassane of the Islamic Center of San Diego and CAIR-San Diego Executive Director Tazheen Nizam, discusses the tragic shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego and its impact on the community.

In the episode, Imam Taha reveals the heartbreaking events of the attack, the grief felt throughout the community, and the challenges of rebuilding after such a devastating loss. Tazheen also talks about the level of support received from allies, faith leaders, and elected officials in the aftermath of the tragedy. She also addresses the growing concern over anti-Muslim hate, the importance of education and civic engagement, and the work required to restore a sense of safety and trust.

The conversation also covers the connection between hateful rhetoric and violence, the importance of interfaith solidarity, mosque security, community resilience, and the role public institutions must play in combating bigotry.
