“Muslim students, as well as students of Palestinian and Arab descent, will receive the unmistakable message that their lived experiences, family histories, and personal perspectives are not welcome in their own school district, and that speaking openly may come at a cost,” said CAIR-NJ spokesperson Naureen Akhter during a June 17 school board meeting.

Dawud Walid, CAIR-MI executive director, said nothing justifies making death threats against any faith community in our state or nation.
“We welcome the swift action taken by law enforcement to investigate these alleged death threats against congregants of the Madison Heights mosque,” he said.
Walid urged Muslim community leaders to use CAIR’s “Best Practices for Mosque and Community Safety” booklet to help keep religious facilities safe. The advice applies to all houses of worship, he said.
