Join the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in urging Congress to block the Trump administration’s proposed $2.8 billion transfer of weapons to Israel, including 40,000 2,000-pound bombs reportedly destined for the Israeli military.
According to media reports, the proposed sale includes the same one-ton bombs Israel has used during its genocide in Gaza. These weapons have leveled neighborhoods, destroyed hospitals, schools, refugee camps, and civilian infrastructure, and contributed to the mass killing, starvation, and displacement of Palestinians. Previous transfers of these bombs were paused because of the catastrophic civilian harm they cause.

Congress has the power to stop this transfer through a Joint Resolution of Disapproval. Lawmakers must hear from constituents who refuse to see their tax dollars used to fund more bombs, more destruction, and more Palestinian civilian deaths.
In a statement, CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad said:
“Sending tens of thousands of one-ton ‘weapons of genocide’ to a government that intentionally destroyed almost all of the civilian infrastructure in Gaza, forcibly displaced and starved the civilian population, and carried out mass killing on an industrial scale is a violation of U.S. law and basic human decency. American taxpayers should not fund the delivery of weapons used to obliterate homes, medical facilities, refugee camps, and civilian infrastructure. We call on Congress to fulfill its oversight duties, stop this arms-for-genocide transfer, and end all U.S. complicity in Israel’s crimes against humanity.”
CAIR notes that opposition in Congress to U.S. military support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza continues to grow. Earlier this year, a historic 104 members of the House voted to end $3.3 billion in military aid to Israel. Momentum has also increased in the Senate, where 36 senators voted to block a proposed sale of 1,000-pound bombs to Israel and 40 senators voted to block the transfer of military bulldozers used in Israeli military operations. CAIR welcomed those votes as a historically significant increase in congressional opposition to weapons transfers enabling Israel’s genocide and war crimes. This newly proposed $2.8 billion package is another opportunity for Congress to act on that growing momentum and stop the flow of American weapons fueling mass civilian death and destruction in Gaza
The proposed transfer would send billions of dollars in additional weapons to the Israeli government even as Gaza’s civilian population continues to endure starvation, displacement, and the systematic destruction of the territory’s civilian infrastructure.
Congress must act now. Every member of Congress must decide whether to stand against genocide or enable its continuation through another multibillion-dollar weapons package.
