HUNTSVILLE, Alabama – The Huntsville Islamic Center, with its more than 200 families in the congregation that has become a focal point for Muslims across North Alabama, now has its first full-time minister: Imam Ragab Abdelmoneim, 32.
Abdelmoneim and his wife, Walaa Abuhany, and their daughters Tasbeeh Abdelmoneim, 3, and Abrar, 9 months, were welcomed at the HIC, at 1645 Sparkman Road in Huntsville, earlier this month with an evening meal.
Abdelmoneim, who had been teaching at Al Azhar University in Cairo where he was also a graduate student, has already begun classes in the Quran for the youth of the congregation.
“I want to represent Islam so that the people in America can see Islam as good, to see the truth of the religion,” Abdelmoneim said. “Islam is a religion of tolerance, peace, love, moderation – this is a message for all over the world.” (Full article)
