As the forces that seek to undermine our progress still loom at every turn, CAIR monthly supporters stand as “ansars,” or guardian helpers. Ansar Sustainers build a legacy by holding the line as CAIR advances to the next stage of our progress as a community.

By boldly stepping forward to protect the American Muslim community as an Ansar Sustainer, you are guarding the marginalized and oppressed. You are using your resources to build a strong shield for the future legacy of Islam in America that can withstand the attacks we will encounter as we pursue our mission.

With your sustained, monthly support guarding our steps, CAIR can fight to advance American Muslim progress unimpeded, insha Allah. Together, we can use our collective power to amplify Muslim voices and expand our influence. Together, we can change false narratives of Muslims and Islam. Together, we can defend the marginalized and oppressed.

Together, Ansar Sustainers will make history, inshallah.

Civil Rights and Social Justice

For a quarter century, CAIR has held the line to protect the civil liberties and civil rights of Muslims in America. CAIR counsels, mediates and advocates on behalf of Muslims and others who have experienced religious discrimination, defamation, or hate crimes. On any given day, we are handling hundreds of complaints in multiple states, not counting those received by our 34 chapters across the country. These numbers represent brothers and sisters in our communities; students who are harassed at school, employees who are oppressed by bigotry at work, Muslim citizens who are questioned at airports, mosques and clergy that are surveilled without just cause, and others in a variety of situations too numerous to mention. CAIR works to protect and defend the constitutional rights of American Muslims, thereby supporting the rights of all Americans.

Empowering and Equipping Muslim Youth

By investing in youth, we’re making sure they learn the importance of living peacefully with those around them in a spirit of inclusivity, service, respect, and kindness. Our ultimate goal is that Muslim youth, who are stepping into leadership, will approach it as a responsibility to serve others and to speak out for the oppressed using Islamic teachings. We’re also equipping them to follow their words with bold action. CAIR is encouraging the next generation to expand their professional aspirations and increase our visibility and engagement across the country. We’re not just encouraging youth; we are empowering them.

Advocating for Legislation and Government Policy on Issues that Touch American Muslims

Advocacy does not stop at the borders of our American communities. Regardless of who sits in the White House, there is a need to hold our leadership accountable to their duties and point out ways they can do better to include American Muslims and use the power of the United States to protect people in America and around the world. We are not a rubber stamp for any political party or public official. Civil rights, inclusivity, justice and human decency are not partisan issues. The policies we care about can bring all Americans together. We seek to unify, not divide.

Building Interfaith Connections

CAIR continually works to build connections with our neighbors of other faiths in communities across the country through activism, service, and building strategic partnerships with diverse organizations that share our values and goals.

Providing Education and Resources for Media

We work with media professionals to help them portray an accurate image of Islam and Muslims to the American public, and perhaps more importantly, for our children and their peers who are influenced by these messages as they grow up. We’re monitoring local and national media to challenge negative stereotypes while encouraging balanced and truthful representations.
