The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned an alleged bias-motivated assault targeting a Hispanic woman in Annapolis, Maryland. According to reports, the suspect attacked the woman while shouting, “No habla inglés,” and has since been charged with a hate crime.

In a statement, CAIR Maryland Director Zainab Chaudry said:
“We are deeply disturbed by this allegedly bias-motivated assault targeting a member of the Hispanic community. Such alleged acts of xenophobia have no place in our society and must be unequivocally condemned. We commend law enforcement for taking this incident seriously and urge prosecutors to pursue justice to the full extent of the law. Maryland’s strength lies in its diversity, and we must all stand united against the growing tide of hate-fueled violence.”
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
