The Council on American-Islamic Relations, described as the largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization in the United States, released a statement of support Tuesday for the decision to file the ethics complaint. The organization called the trip a “propaganda tour intended to generate political support for the Israeli government’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.”

Meanwhile, the Council on American Islamic Relations is calling on schools not to adopt the IHRA definition, arguing it “conflates criticism of the Israeli government’s racism with antisemitism” and “is being weaponized across the country to silence advocacy against genocide and for Palestinian human rights.”

Amr Shabaik, legal director of the Council on American Islamic Relations in LA, told LA Public Press the judge’s ruling doesn’t preclude further lawsuits challenging AB 715 since he’s still concerned the law could stifle educators’ constitutional rights.
Shabaik said he’s monitoring the law’s implementation and working with other organizations on future legislation to “clean up” any provisions of AB 715 that may violate educators’ or students’ First Amendment rights.

In light of the alleged daycare fraud in Minnesota, Somali daycare centers in the Puget Sound area have been subject to threats and harassment over the unsubstantiated claims of fraud. The Washington chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations claimed dozens of providers have been either doxxed, harassed, or received death threats since the fraud claims arose.

“The City of Broken Arrow, of course, does have the right to ensure that construction that goes on is compliant with relevant regulations,” Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) Oklahoma chapter executive director Veronica Laizure told 2 News via Zoom. “But as far as I’m aware, as an attorney, there isn’t a regulation that says a city can say, ‘No, we just don’t want Muslims to build here.'”
