The Council on American-Islamic Relations – the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization — invited Allen to visit a mosque.

CAIR said it welcomed Allen to meet with Muslim community members, and experience “firsthand the welcoming and peaceful environment that defines our faith and institutions.”

The group also praised Wahl for demonstrating a “commitment to know and serve the people of Alabama” by attending the interfaith dinner, acknowledging that it’s not “an endorsement of any religion, but rather a demonstration of mutual respect.”

The Alabama chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-AL), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, called Tuesday for Allen to visit a mosque despite his statement emphasizing that he will never visit one. The organization previously called on Tuberville to visit a mosque after making his own inflammatory statements.

“They completely misrepresent our faith,” Hiba Rahim, the executive director of CAIR Florida. “No one talks about bringing Sharia into the United States. Nobody talks about imposing it in our Constitution, which is not even possible because of our Supremacy Clause and our First Amendment. It’s not even possible. You know who knows that? Attorneys like Paul Renner.”

CAIR Florida accused Renner of trying to play on fears and to divide Americans against one another, saying he knows full well that the First Amendment clearly prohibits the establishment of a state religion.
