CAIR: ‘Always a bit on edge.’ How religious leaders are confronting wave of violence – USA Today

Other religious communities said they have been preparing for events of mass violence for decades.  

Edward Ahmed Mitchell, deputy director of the Council on American–Islamic Relations, a Muslim civil rights group, said that while the recent attacks “should make everyone, including American Muslims, more conscious of their security,” he hasn’t seen a surge requests for guidance about safety.  

“The recent attacks have not sparked some massive influx to our office of expressions of concern, again, because I thinkour community is already always a bit on edge when it comes to security,” Mitchell said.

The San Francisco Bay Area office of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-SFBA), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, praised Dublin’s Sept. 16 vote updating its Statement of Investment Policy to bar city investments in companies involved in war, mass surveillance and mass incarceration.

The Council on American Islamic Relations of New Jersey said it was troubling that “despite an obligation to provide all relevant information to the Court, the federal government’s unverified complaint makes no mention of the fact that the two main actors central to the complaint were each indicted in June 2025 by Essex County grand juries.”

“An unverified complaint is not sworn under penalty of perjury,” said communications manager Aya Elamroussi. “CAIR-New Jersey wonders whether the federal government’s complaint will be amended or verified.”

Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the US largest Muslim advocacy group said Israel’s move on the flotilla show it would “kidnap humanitarian activists and engage in piracy in international waters”.

Casar and McCaul to act swiftly to secure the safety of Mr. Stoker and to uphold international law.”
