CAIR: Van Jones Apologizes for Crass ‘Dead Gaza Baby’ Joke: ‘I Messed Up’ | Video – The Wrap
That apology is “positive but insufficient,” The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said in a statement Sunday.
CAIR also insisted Jones should “fully retract his false claim, acknowledge Israel’s responsibility for killing the children whose deaths he dismissed, recognize the Gaza genocide as a genocide, and meet with Palestinian-American leaders.”
CAIR: Local organizations react to news of possible peace deal in Gaza – WBAL
Director of the CAIR Office in Maryland, Zainab Chaudry, spoke with 11 News Sunday evening.
“Our organization welcomes any negotiations that lead to a permanent ceasefire, lead to a permanent end to Israel’s brutal genocide in Gaza,” Chaudry said. “Unfortunately, we are seeing over the last 24, 48 hours that Israel has not stopped its bombing in Gaza. It has continued to kill and murder people, and dozens of children. So, it’s really hard, especially Palestinian families who have loved ones in Gaza, to have any faith in any sort of ceasefire negotiations.”
Chaudry also added that there is more to it than two warring sides.
“One is an occupying power, and one is an occupied people that have been advocating for decades and trying to secure their right to be able to live and exist with freedom and dignity on their own land,” Chaudry said. “So, I think when we talk about both sides, we just need to be careful that we’re not drawing a false equivalency between the two sides

This tattoo appeared in a photo of Hegseth posted to the official Secretary of Defense X account on March 25, 2025, and was immediately criticized by some as being anti-Muslim. For instance, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) released a statement on March 27 calling the tattoo “a sign of both anti-Muslim hostility and personal insecurity.”
