Hibah Hammoudeh, civil rights coordinator for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, said prosecutors used the indictment to make an example of student activists.
“The indictment escalates the charges and paves the way for trial. This is not how you seek justice,” Hammoudeh said. “This decision demonstrates a clear intent to punish and make examples of these students.”
