“The current administration’s demonization of immigrants is unethical and un-American,” said CAIR-Missouri Executive Director Faizan Syed. “We believe Senator Blunt’s silence on this issue is unacceptable.”
The program will include a rally in front of Senator Blunt’s office, along with a delegation of ten community leaders who will visit the Senator’s staff. A CAIR-Missouri representative will join the Missouri delegation while Syed will meet with Blunt’s staff in Washington, D.C., on Monday.
“St. Louis should be a freedom city for immigrants and refugees,” said CAIR-Missouri Communication Intern Neveen Ayesh. “Senator Blunt should remember the example of the Bosnians who helped rebuild St. Louis and became an integral part of our community.”
The Washington-based civil rights and advocacy organization urges community members to report any bias incidents to police and to CAIR’s Civil Rights Department at 202-742-6420 or by filing a report at: http://www.cair.com/civil-rights/report-an-incident/view/form.html
