The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is urging all Americans who oppose Israel’s genocide in Gaza to immediately call all Democratic members of Congress in the U.S. House of Representatives who have not yet signed the Democratic discharge petition aiming to force a vote on the $14 billion military aid package to Israel.
In the past 24 hours, 177 Democrats have signed onto the discharge petition opposed by CAIR and other groups that support Palestinian human rights. With Democrats holding 213 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, there is potential for disaffected Republicans to collaborate with Democrats, achieving the 218 votes needed to initiate a procedural discharge petition and bypass Speaker Johnson’s block.
Speaker Mike Johnson’s rejection of the Senate’s aid package prompted this move, which threatens to bypass accountability and worsen the crisis in Gaza.
As of 12:00 PM Eastern Time, the following Democratic members of the House of Representatives have not yet signed the Democratic discharge petition and have not indicated either way publicly that they will not sign the petition. CAIR is urging all Americans to call these congressional offices using the script provided below to urge them not to sign the petition.

Sample Script:
My name is [Your Name], and I’m reaching out as a deeply concerned constituent. I implore [Congressperson’s Name] to “NOT SIGN” onto the Democratic discharge petition for the $14 billion military aid package to Israel.
At a time when the Israeli government openly dismisses the United States, starves the population of Gaza, and threatens escalation by invading Rafah, we should not be handing over $14 billion in aid.
I am particularly disturbed by the allocation of American funds for weaponry to the Israeli government without human rights conditions. Our nation must cease funding the Netanyahu government’s genocide in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of over 31,000 Palestinians, left 73,000 wounded, and caused widespread starvation.
Signing onto this discharge petition will inevitably result in further civilian casualties and exacerbate an already dire situation.
Once more, I urge [Congressperson’s Name] to oppose this genocidal aid package, abstain from endorsing the discharge petition, and prioritize the preservation of Palestinian lives.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
Yesterday, CAIR also launched an online click-and-send petition urging members of the U.S. House of Representatives to refrain from signing the Democratic discharge petition.
