The Alabama chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-AL) today condemned the hanging of a banner promoting a white supremacist organization in Prattville.
The poster, which condemned substance abuse and promoted the organization, was hung off a railroad trestle over Main Street on Saturday. Police were called and the banner was removed on the same day.

“Sadly, it is not uncommon for hateful groups like the Patriot Front to use legitimate issues like substance abuse to mask and promote their repugnant ideas,” said CAIR-AL Staff Attorney Britton O’Shields. “We condemn this organization and stand with the communities of Prattville in repudiation of neo-Nazi ideology.”
She said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR-AL has recently been reestablished after having served the Alabama Muslim community as a state chapter from 2015 until limiting operations during the COVID-19 pandemic.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
