CAIR Asks Biden Admin ‘Is There a Red Line?’ After Leaked Video Shows Israeli Soldiers Sodomizing Palestinian Detainee

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today asked the Biden administration if there is a “red line” that Israel can cross that will result in a change of American policy after a leaked video showed Israeli soldiers sexually assaulting a Palestinian.

The video shows Israeli soldiers attacking a Palestinian at the notorious Israeli detention camp Sde Teiman. The video from surveillance cameras shows a group of Israeli reservist soldiers picking a detainee out of more than 30 others, who are all laid on the ground blindfolded. The man is then taken to a corner and sodomized. The detainee was bleeding and was taken to hospital where his condition was described as “complex.” A medical report said the detainee’s injury was caused by the insertion of an object.

In a statement, CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:

“Once again, Israeli forces are proving that there is no crime against humanity they won’t commit. This is not the first time evidence of rape committed against Palestinians detained by the Israeli military has come to light. The question must be asked of the Biden administration – is there a red line? Is there an act of savagery that this openly racist, genocidal Israeli government can commit that will lead to some kind of response from the Biden administration?”

He noted that CAIR previously called for international action after UN experts warned of “escalating use of torture” by Israel against Palestinian prisoners.
