The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today responded to the death toll in Gaza rising to over 40,000 by asking President Biden “how many more” Palestinian civilians have to die before he takes action.
More than 40,000 Palestinians have been slaughtered in Israeli attacks, with many more buried under rubble and threatened by illness. The majority of these deaths have been women and children. Experts say the death toll may be “vastly underestimated.”

The medical journal The Lancet reported that some 186,000 Palestinians may have died since Israel’s invasion of Gaza.
In a statement, CAIR Research and Advocacy Director Corey Saylor said:
“President Biden’s response to the Israeli government’s daily war crimes has been to send more bombs to drop on Palestinians in Gaza. It is long past time for the President to end the use of American-made weapons against civilians in Gaza and force Netanyahu to agree to the ceasefire deal that he keeps sabotaging. If President Biden does not radically change course, his ultimate legacy will be arming a genocide. How many more Palestinians have to die before President Biden takes action?”
He noted that yesterday, CAIR condemned new reports of Israeli forces using Palestinians as “human shields” and Israel’s plan for a new settlement on occupied Palestinian land and impacting a UNESCO heritage site.
