CAIR Backs Press Institute’s Call for Israel to Drop Ban on International Media Access to Gaza

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today backed a call by the International Press Institute (IPI) for Israel to immediately drop the ban on access to Gaza by international media.

On December 7, the Israeli Supreme Court granted – for the ninth time – the Israeli government’s request to delay review of a petition to allow international media into Gaza. The new deadline for the government to respond is December 21. IPI is repeating its call for an immediate end to the ban.

“It is obvious to all that the Israeli government has consistently denied international media access to Gaza in order to cover up its genocide and war crimes,” said CAIR National Communications Manager Ismail Allison. “Media organizations and outlets worldwide must speak out against this blatant attempt to cover up crimes against humanity.”

Earlier this week, CAIR said U.S. and international media outlets must speak out after a new report by Reporters Without Borders (RSF) that Israel killed more journalists in 2025 than any other country.
