On Tuesday, Nov. 19, the California chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-CA), along with its Center for the Prevention of Hate and Bullying (CPHB), will host press conferences at its offices in Anaheim and Santa Clara to announce the release of its second campus climate report titled Examining Islamophobia on College Campuses.
The report, based on survey responses from students at 87 colleges and universities across California, reveals a significant rise in harassment and discrimination against Muslim students, with nearly 50% reporting negative experiences on campus. It also provides insight into the impacts of the Oct. 7, 2023, attack and the ongoing genocide in Gaza, which have exacerbated Islamophobia, anti-Palestinian hate, and anti-Arab racism, leaving many students feeling targeted and unsupported.
