On Thursday, Jan. 30, the national office and the Massachusetts chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, plan to hold a press conference to announce the designation of Harvard University as a “hostile campus” after the administration adopted new, anti-speech, anti-Palestinian policies that threaten to expand the persistent abuse of anti-genocide, anti-apartheid voices.

Over the weekend, The Harvard Crimson reported that the university had “quietly agreed last week to resolve a 2024 federal complaint alleging the University failed to protect students from anti-Arab, anti-Muslim, and anti-Palestinian harassment and intimidation. According to The Foundation for Individual Rights and Expression’s (FIRE) Free Speech College Rankings, Harvard University was ranked 251st, or last, compared to other top American colleges.
