The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and its Michigan chapter (CAIR-Michigan) are reminding all registered American Muslim voters to participate in the upcoming primaries in their states, including the Michigan state presidential primary on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
CAIR and CAIR-Michigan plan to launch a statewide robocall campaign targeting registered Muslim voter households and supporters of CAIR before the election. The robocall, recorded by CAIR Michigan Executive Director Dawud Walid, will broadcast the following message to thousands of registered Muslim voter households:
“As-salaamu alaykum, this is a friendly reminder from CAIR and CAIR-Michigan.”
“Tomorrow, Tuesday, February 27, is the state’s presidential primary.”
“Whether you choose to support a candidate or vote uncommitted, your voice matters. It’s crucial to exercise your right to vote.”
“Make a difference. Be heard. Cast your vote on Tuesday, February 27.”
The State Presidential Primary, other upcoming primary elections and the general election present an opportunity for American Muslims to have a say in shaping the future of our nation.
Michigan has two separate ballots for citizens to participate in either a Republican or Democratic presidential primary. By participating in the electoral process, voters can make a difference and ensure that their voices are heard.
In the coming weeks, CAIR also plans to relaunch its nationwide “Muslims Vote” campaign, providing get-out-the-vote resources including an election calendar, sample candidate questions, election surveys of Muslim voter attitudes, and more.
NOTE: As a 501(c)3 nonprofit, CAIR does not endorse or oppose candidates for office, and makes no claims as to the favorability of one candidate being elected over another.
