CAIR-MI: Protests in Dearborn: Anti-Islam activists clash with Muslim residents – MLive.com
A group of far-right, anti-Muslim protestors came to Dearborn on Tuesday to hold a demonstration. The protestors engaged in various acts of anti-Muslim bigotry, including attempting to burn a copy of the Holy Quran.
In a statement, CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid said:
“This despicable display was nothing more than a transparent and failed attempt to divide communities in our state. The Muslim community in Dearborn, and indeed all Muslim communities across Michigan and the whole of our nation, will not be intimidated or baited by low-rent bigots. Actions like those taken by the protestors in Dearborn will always fail.”
Walid cited the Holy Quran 25:63: “True servants of the Compassionate (God) are those who walk on the earth in humility and when the ignorant people address them, they say: ‘Peace.’”
