In a statement, CAIR National Communications Director Ibrahim Hooper said:
“We urge state and federal law enforcement authorities to take this threat seriously and to investigate it as a hate crime. With the rise in anti-Muslim violence and attacks in the past several months, each threat must be handled with urgency. We encourage mosque leaders in Alabama and nationwide to make use of our Best Practices for Mosque and Community Safety guide and implement security measures. We also encourage police to maintain a presence in the area of the mosque to ensure the safety of the congregation.”

Hooper noted that CAIR received 2,171 complaints of anti-Muslim incidents from October 7 to December 2, 2023.
