CAIR Calls Israeli Looting of Lebanon Homes Amid Ethnic Cleansing ‘Latest Blatant Violations’ of U.S. Foreign Funding Laws

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today said Israeli troops’ looting homes of people they ethnically-cleansed in Lebanon is just the “latest blatant violations” of U.S. foreign funding laws.

CAIR also welcomed a decision by the German government to not testify on Israel’s behalf in the genocide case against them at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Video filmed by Israeli soldiers shows them looting homes in Lebanon, as they did in Gaza. Israel’s assault on Lebanon has displaced over a million people so far.

Germany will not intervene on Israel’s behalf in the case against it at the ICJ in The Hague, where it is accused of genocide in Gaza, a German Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Wednesday in a briefing. This marks a shift in Germany’s prior stance of backing the case.

In a statement, CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:

“Ethnically cleansing a million people from their homes in Lebanon and then looting those homes on camera are the latest brazen war crime committed by the war criminals of the Israeli apartheid government. These videotaped crimes are also the latest blatant violations of U.S. foreign funding laws, which forbid the provision of U.S. weapons and military aid to militaries engaged in human rights abuses. Congress follow the law, listen to the American people, and end funding for these out-of-control state terrorists acting on Benjamin Netanyahu’s orders.”

He noted that yesterday, CAIR called on members of Congress to condemn Israel’s ethnic cleansing in Lebanon that has displaced around one in five people in the country.

CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.

La misión de CAIR es proteger las libertades civiles, mejorar la comprensión del Islam, promover la justicia, y empoderar a los musulmanes en los Estados Unidos.
