The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today called on the GOP to listen to its own voters as new polls show that support for the genocidal Israeli government plummeting among young Republicans.
CNN reports a “massive shift” of more than 40 percentage points away from support for Israel among Republicans under age 50. Support for Israel also declined among moderate and liberal Republicans, who make up roughly one-third of the party base.
In a statement, CAIR Government Affairs Director Robert McCaw said:
“These polling results should serve as a wake-up call for Republican leaders in Washington. Younger voters within their own party are increasingly rejecting unconditional support for the genocidal Israeli government and are demanding a more balanced, principled approach to human rights and international law.
“It is clear that the political landscape is shifting. Elected officials can no longer ignore growing concern among their constituents about Israel’s crimes against humanity. The GOP must listen to its base and reassess policies that are increasingly out of step with the views of the next generation of voters.”
Last week, CAIR called for members of Congress to listen to the American people after another poll shows increasingly negative views of Israel and its indicted war criminal Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to a new Pew Research Center survey, 60 percent of U.S. adults have an unfavorable view of Israel and 59 percent have little or no confidence in Netanyahu to do the right thing regarding world affairs. Majorities of adults under 50 rate Israel and Netanyahu negatively.
In February, CAIR similarly called on Congress to listen to the American people instead of anti-Palestinian lobby groups after a Gallup poll showed that most Americans sympathize with Palestinians over Israel in the wake of the Gaza Genocide.
