(CHICAGO, IL, 3/4/2022) – The Chicago chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Chicago) today welcomed the arrest of a man charged with a hate crime for allegedly vandalizing a car with anti-Muslim graffiti insulting Islam’s Prophet Muhammad.
Patrick J Goshorn Jr., 30, of Homer Glen, was arrested last month for failing to appear in court on a hate crime charge in connection to an act of anti-Muslim vandalism. Last September, Goshorn reportedly spray-painted an anti-Muslim message attacking the Prophet Muhammad on the back of a car. Goshorn is reportedly known to police for prior incidents of disorderly conduct.

In a statement, CAIR-Chicago Executive Director Ahmed Rehab said:
“We welcome hate crime charges for this despicable act of hate. Anti-Muslim bigotry continues to be a threat to the safety of our community and must be taken seriously by law enforcement authorities.”
Rehab noted that last month, CAIR-Chicago called for terrorism charges against a Maine man arrested for planning to commit mass murder against mosques in Chicago.
