The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned a “horrific” massacre of civilians in Sudan and called on the Biden administration to demand an immediate transition to democratic governance.
A Sudanese militia, the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), is accused of killing 124 people and wounding dozens wounded in an attack on the village of al-Suhra.
In a statement, CAIR said:
“We strongly condemn the ongoing horrific violence against civilians in Sudan, and we call on the Biden administration to demand an immediate transition to democratic governance. Until the Biden administration and foreign governments involved in the civil war make it clear that only freely and democratically-elected leaders will be recognized as representatives of the Sudanese government, this civil war may continue indefinitely.”
