CAIR Condemns Bomb Threats Targeting 9 Historically Black Colleges and Universities

(WASHINGTON D.C., 1/6/2022) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned bomb threats targeting nine Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) nationwide.

On Tuesday, nine HBCUs around the country received bomb threats. The schools targeted included Howard University, Spelman College, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Norfolk State University, Texas Southern University, Prairie View A & M University, Florida Memorial University, North Carolina Central University and Xavier University of Louisiana. No bombs were discovered at any of the nine HBCUs’ campuses. So far, the FBI has said it is investigating only one of the threats.

He said the American Muslim community and CAIR stand in solidarity with all those challenging anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, anti-Semitism, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
