CAIR Condemns Deadly Israeli Attacks on Syria, Reiterates Call for U.S. to Demand Respect For Syrian Sovereignty

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned deadly Israeli attacks on Syria and reiterated its call for the U.S. to demand respect for Syrian sovereignty, instead of calling on Syrian forces to withdraw and let chaos spread in their own land.

LISTEN: Why is Israel escalating its strikes against Syria?

Earlier this month, CAIR called on President Trump to condemn and stop ongoing Israeli attacks on Syria.

In a statement, CAIR National Deputy Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:

“The Trump administration must demand an end to the Israeli government’s illegal, unjustified and deadly attacks on Syrian territory using American weapons.

“The Netanyahu regime is completely out of control and plans to continue spreading chaos in Syria unless President Trump intervenes. Netanyahu keeps starting wars so that he can disrupt his trial, placate his fellow racist warmongering cabinet members and hold onto power, all with U.S. support.

“Instead of enabling Netanyahu by encouraging Syrian forces to abandon their own southern territory to chaos, the State Department should demand an immediate end to the Israeli government’s cowardly, illegal and unjustified bombing of Damascus and other Syrian cities.”
