(WASHINGTON, D.C., 9/20/2023) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the distribution of Ku Klux Klan (KKK) leaflets in Harrisonburg, Va.
Flyers promoting an offshoot of the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) were distributed throughout the Old Town neighborhood of Harrisonburg.
“We condemn the distribution of this hateful propaganda and stand in solidarity with the residents of Harrisonburg,” said CAIR National Communications Manager Ismail Allison.
He said CAIR and the American Muslim community stand in solidarity with all those challenging antisemitism, systemic anti-Black racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, white supremacy, and all other forms of bigotry.
CAIR-MA called for a hate crime investigation into the incident after it happened.
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
