The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today condemned the forced removal of female prisoners’ Islamic headscarves, or hijabs, in Israeli detention.
The Palestinian Commission for Prisoners and Released Prisoners Affairs confirmed that Palestinian female detainees held in Israeli prisons are facing “degrading and shocking conditions,” including having their hijabs removed and being subjected to strip searches.

In a statement, CAIR Deputy Executive Director Edward Ahmed Mitchell said:
“It is not enough for the genocidal Israeli government to slaughter tens of thousands of children and reduce Gaza to rubble; it must also insult the dignity of Muslim women. The world has seen the reality of the Israeli government and will not forget it. We urge the Biden administration to immediately end all military and diplomatic support for Netanyahu’s criminal government.”
He also condemned the killing of 30 in an Israeli airstrike in the Lebanese town of Barja.
